Broadband is a signaling method that handles a wide range of frequencies.   We have antennas that operate over the frequency range 2GHz to 18GHz, although frequently the system user will be using sections within this range, and will use just one antenna.  As the majority of antennas have a beamwidth of 10 to 15% of their optimum frequency, the higher the frequency the broader the bandwidth.  This has led to the higher frequency communication systems such as the WiMAX 5.8GHz fixed radio access system. A wider bandwidth will improve previous low frequency communication systems, for example music can be transmitted and sound clearer and be without loss of sound reproduction.

Ultra wide bandwidth antennas can be used in applications such as signal monitoring, test equipment and micro-cell communications.
