Small UMTS Base Station Antenna

22 November 2000

UMTS base station antennaEuropean Antennas launch one of the smallest, fully efficient, dual polar UMTS base station antennas available.

This very slim sector antenna provides 16dBi gain on both polarisations (+/- 45 degrees) and can therefore be used for most traditional macro sites as well as high density micro cells.

Measuring only 910mm (35") wide and 72mm (3") deep, this antenna has such a small surface area that it can be installed alongside existing GSM antennas, even on the smallest masts, without significant effects on wind-loading. This eliminates the need for operators to go to the great expense of replacing existing GSM antennas with dual band units.

Downward facing 716 connectors allow for easy access and installation whilst ensuring that low intermodulation products are maintained. The antenna elements are housed in an aluminium chassis that is fully packed with dielectric to ensure that there is no opportunity for build-up of moisture near the PCB.

This product complements European Antennas' existing 13dBi vertically polarised mini sector (measuring 400x140x12mm) and the recently launched triple band (GSM900, GSM1800 and UMTS) directional picocell antennas that have a choice of single or triple inputs.
