Licensing
European Antennas manufacture approximately 20,000 antennas per year at its facility in the UK and undertake continuous development, creating about 100 new antenna designs per year. Nearly 20% of the company's resource is devoted to the creation of new antennas, most of which become catalogue items.
Since the development resource is substantial but our production capacity is limited to a few tens of thousands per annum, and many of our customers have needs which are in excess of our capacity, we offer a design and licence manufacturing service.
We have undertaken several such licensing arrangements where the customer can undertake manufacture themselves, or arrange for a third party to manufacture.
The evolution of a product can be mapped out and indicative costs for non-recurring engineering, prototypes, tooling, first article testing, pre-production, licence data pack, royalties and technical support. Third party training can be advised at an early stage so that our customer can see the benefits of such arrangements.
Examples of licence manufacturing include the design of a 3.5GHz high gain flat panel antenna which needed to be integrated with a radio within the same en closure in order to be cost effective for CPE (customer premises equipment). From initial contract to a third party manufacturing under licence took less than 20 weeks.
Another example is a miniature circular polarised hemi omni antenna required for a satellite telephone where the potential quantities may exceed 100,000 units.

The details of the arrangements can be flexible and European Antennas would negotiate terms which provide all parties with mutual benefit.
