Many of European Antennas’ products are waterproof, rugged and withstand -55° to +60°C.
There are many standard products and special antennas that that are being mounted
on UAVs that were originally designed for harsh environments such as Grand Prix and rally car racing. In these cases the customer has taken responsibility for environmental qualifications, although specific test programmes can be carried out.
Rugged dipoles (EVD2 series) can be mounted easily via the connector and need only a 15mm diameter hole so it is possible for them to be readily deployed.
The blade antennas (SBA series) are rigid 2mm thick PCB based blades that require specific mounting. These have better aerodynamic properties than the EVD series, but both products are centre-fed dipoles that are independent of ground plane.
Directional blade antennas provide additional gain in one direction and have been deployed either stand-alone or for integration into the wings of a UAV.
Some higher gain linear polarised (VOA series) and circular polarised omni antennas (RCO series) have been used for UAV and helicopter applications.
