European Antennas Ltd is pleased to announce that it has recently been acquired by the Chelton Group of companies, a subsidiary of Cobham plc, a FTSE top 200 company.
European Antennas was formed in 1991 to design, develop and manufacture microwave antennas for specialist and commercial markets and applications. Based at Newmarket, Suffolk, rapid growth of this high tech engineering business has brought employment to over 30 staff and an annual turnover approaching £3m with approximatley 40% exported. The customer base includes some of the world's largest electronics and communications companies.
European Antennas specialise in non-standard terrestrial microwave antenna applications including wireless local loop base station and subscriber antennas, wireless LAN antennas in the 2.4 and 5GHz ISM bands, microcell mobile communications antennas and new requirements for third generation UMTS markets.
The Chelton Group has established operations in the UK, France, Sweden, USA and Canada and concentrates predominantly on aerospace and military markets.
European Antennas Ltd will continue to be managed by its existing directors - managing director Brian Phillips, technical director Chris Walker and sales director Malcolm Ware - who have entered into long term employment agreements. Company growth will be accelerated through access to Chelton's world wide market coverage and complementary development resources.
Managing director Brian Phillips advises: "This will provide European Antennas with a unique opportunity to realise its full potential. The company is already established in many diverse markets and is poised to develop further opportunities. With Chelton's support this should become a reality far sooner than would otherwise have been possible. The directors and staff continue to remain enthusiastic about our future within the group."
